Author recalls tales of simpler times

Writer and author Alene Dunn made a special stop in Vidor to visit with her friends and admirers at the Vidor Public Library for a book signing last week. Ms. Dunn has recently selfpublished a historical fiction anthology, Memories of the Way It Was, based on real events that happened to her and her family in rural east Texas.

“I wrote this book of tales of east Texas primarily for my grandchildren. I wanted to leave something behind for them that taught them where they came from and about their roots. They are city kids and they don’t know about everyday life in rural east Texas. They don’t know about washing dishes in Mill Creek or hog killing day. But they need to know. And I encourage others to write down their own stories, memories of things past.”
