Cheryl Gibson Buckley

Cheryl Gibson Buckley left us unexpectedly on Monday, September 24, 2017, at the age of 61. She was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on October 7, 1955, to Helen Datusch and Isiah Gibson. Although she spent much of her young life residing in Louisiana she made her home in Texas. She lived in Vidor, Texas with her husband of twenty-four years, Ron Buckley along with their two dogs Chip and Molly, which she loved dearly. Cheryl was someone who got better with age, who loved coffee, grandkids and Christmas. She was giving and loyal whether or not you deserved it, and offered forgiveness even if you didn’t ask. She didn’t share her feelings easily but wore them on her sleeve. She was a little opinionated, a bit of a crybaby, and a lot of a wimp, but she sure loved her life and all the people in it. If you knew her at all you knew that she believed that blood didn’t make you family. She believed that family was made up of the people in your life who want you in theirs, who accept you for who you are, and who love each other on days when you struggle to like each other. Her life was a crazy, disorganized, fully planned mess, and she wouldn’t have had it any other way. It was FULL! She left this earth living her best and happiest life. In an age of social media, maybe her last advice was her best advice in which she posted “Whatever’s good for your soul… that” Cheryl is survived by her husband, Ron Buckley; father and step-mother, Isiah and Margot Gibson; children, Hope Bourque and her husband, Terry, of Lumberton; C.J. Veazey and his wife, Tonya, of Vidor; Derek Veazey and his wife, Kasie, of Vidor; Jessica Rubero and her husband, Rob, of Vidor; Ronnie Buckley and his wife, Angela, of Kingwood, and;grandchildren, Garrett Bourque, Brandt Bourque, Ashlyn Bourque, Mallory Veazey, Caiden Veazey, Zoe Veazey, Briana Buckley, Baillie Buckley, Brett Veazey, and Adelyn Veazey; great-grandchildren, Kylie Hooks and Aubrey Bourque; brother, Gary Parker, of Beaumont; sisters, Pam Wattigney and her husband, Rocky; Ettie Thompson and her husband, Brian; and step-siblings, Kelli VanAusdal and her husband, Brandt; Robert Salazar and his wife, Barbara Jones; and Shane Parham and his wife, Bree.
