Child driver injured in crash after short pursuit

A ten-year-old boy was seriously injured in a vehicle crash in south Vidor on Wednesday morning. First responders attending the crash scene determined that the child was actually at the wheel of the pickup truck that crashed.

 

According to a Vidor Police Department news release, on Wednesday morning at approximately 7:40 a.m., Vidor Police Department dispatchers began receiving telephone calls from drivers reporting that a Dodge pickup truck was being driven recklessly on North Main Street. One of the callers was able follow the errant vehicle while maintaining contact with the police dispatcher. That driver was able to provide police with a continuing location for the reckless driver.
