VISD sets tax rate and adopts budget

The Board of Trustees of the Vidor Independent School District voted on Tuesday night to adopt the school district 2017 property tax rate at $1.22053 per $100 valuation. This a four-tenths of one penny per $100 valuation increase over last year’s 2016 Vidor I.S.D. property tax rate of $1.21652 per $100 valuation.

Actually, the very small increase was not something that the Board of Trustees had any control over. The portion of the tax rate controlled by the school board, the Maintenance and Operation tax levy of $1.125 per $100 valuation, remained exactly the same as last year’s tax rate.
