Local sales begin showing improvement

For only the second time this year, Vidor’s monthly sales tax allocation is larger than the amount received compared to the same month in 2016. January 2017 was the last time the City of Vidor showed an increase in the monthly allocation.

The $230,033 July allocation just received is more than $18,000 above the amount received in July 2016. Even with the July allocation, the city is still 5.79 percent behind the 2016 year to date amount of $1,574372. Vidor’s situation is not an outlier however with most Orange County cities reporting lower allocation amounts compared to 2016. Orange and Pine Forest are the only Orange County municipalities recording an increase over 2016.
