Who gets the money? How much? HOT tax discussion set

Whether to change the way the City of Vidor doles out Hotel Occupancy Tax money or make changes will be one of the items discussed


Thursday at Vidor City Councils’ regular meting. In recent discussions about the city’s long term plans, council members displayed several points of view regarding the tax collected by Vidor’s hotels, motels and bed and breakfasts. Some local and some out of town organizations have received tens of thousands of dollars over the past few years from the tax added on to overnight guest’s bill and then sent back to the city to be placed in a dedicated fund intended to promote tourism and overnight stays in the establishments that collect the tax in the first place.
