Many public hearings scheduled before Vidor’s first zoning ordinance

It has been almost 20 years since Vidor voters approved a non-binding resolution in favor of zoning, and finally, it appears zoning is coming to Vidor.

In May 1998, voters approved by a 184-115 margin the non-binding proposition, which asked: “Shall the city of Vidor adopt a comprehensive zoning ordinance; establish zoning districts; adopt a zoning map for the city of Vidor; and establish related rules, regulations and permits; and establish a zoning commission?”
