Drivers beware: Increased holiday law enforcement

The -Vidor Police Department along with hundreds of other law enforcement agencies throughout the state will be mobilizing for its annual “Click It or Ticket” safety belt enforcement campaign next week.

According to a Vidor Police Department news release, in Texas, the law requires every person occupying a moving vehicle to buckle up or face fines and court costs up to $200. Children younger than 8 years must be in a child safety seat or booster seat unless they’re taller than 4 feet 9 inches. If those children aren’t properly restrained, the driver faces fines up to $250 plus court costs.
