Vidor officer assaulted at school

By George Garza

A Vidor I.S.D. Police Department police officer and a student were attacked by three male students as the officer tried to escort the fourth student safely to his car two weeks ago. According to Vidor I.S.D. Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Jay Killgo said all of the students involved in the altercation in front of the Vidor High School were minors. Since minors are involved, the superintendent said that he is required to follow certain privacy provisions of the law and is restricted about the information he can release.

The incident happened at the front of the Vidor High School in the small drive through parking area between the school’s front door and Orange St. At about 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29th, Vidor I.S.D. police officer Weldon Peveto was escorting a student to his vehicle parked across from the front of the school.
