VISD students, parents to participate in statewide reading program kicked off by Cowboys Coach

By Sally Andrews Coordinator of Community Relations

On Monday, April 3, students at four schools in Vidor ISD will join students and their families across the state in kicking off a celebration of literacy called Texas Reads One Book. Students at Vidor Elementary, Oak Forest Elementary, Pine Forest Elementary and Vidor Middle School will simultaneously watch a videotaped reading of the first chapter of The Lemonade War by Dallas Cowboys Head Coach Jason Garrett.

For the third straight year, Coach Garrett will launch the statewide Texas Reads One Book program. Then students and their families will read and discuss the book at home together for a three-week period.
