Heat sends fish to deeper waters

It was hot and steamy even before the sun began to glow on the horizon. There was not the hint of a breeze and even the ever present marsh mosquitoes were not very active. As I stood on the Causeway launching ramp at the bottom end of Sabine Lake I could feel sweat begin to ooze from my pores and dampen my shirt. Then I realized, summer is here and now begins ninety days of wilting heat and misery.
