VHS at UIL Marching Contest

Saturday, October 17th, the Vidor High School Mighty Pirate Marching Band participated in the UIL marching contest. The band walked away with an award of three straight ones which is known as sweepstakes. Some of the critiques the band received were “Good percussion” and “Nice musicality.” When asked what the expectations were going into the contest, Kristen Davis, the Mighty Pirate Marching Band’s Drum Major said, “I think going into any kind of performance, especially contest, we’re expected to do our best. Stay in step, play every note, etc. We’ve made a lot of progress this year, so I think we were expected to do better than we did at contest last year as well, which we did.” The Band did an excellent job representing Vidor’s city and High School while accomplishing fantastic results!
