Pirates take last minute 27-24 road win over GCM Patriots

By Dan Luker

Vidor’s Pirates kept their playoff hopes alive for another week with a thrilling come from behind win over the Goose Creek Memorial Patriots in Baytown last Thursday night. Arriving late at Stallworth Stadium due to a wreck on I-10, the Pirates were slow to get untracked on offense in the first half, being shut out in the first two quarters for the first time this year. Meanwhile, the host Patriots managed to put 10 first half points on the board, first by kicking a 27 yard field goal with :38 left in the first quarter and then adding a touchdown on a one yard plunge with 4:47 left in the half.
