Pirates bounce back with 42-21 win over Jasper

By Dan Luker
After a disappointing 19-7 loss to Bay High School in their season opener, the Vidor Pirates went on the road to take on the District 10-4A-1 favorite Jasper Bulldogs. The Bulldogs, who defeated Vidor at Pirate Stadium last year, went 3 rounds deep in playoffs in 2014 after going undefeated in their district. Predicted to again win their district , the Bulldogs were thought to be a big challenge on their home field for the Pirates and the game certainly started off on the wrong foot for the visiting team. Jasper took the opening kickoff and moved the ball downfield after a big run by Bulldog running back Decorian
Holmes. Quarterback Reese Durand finished the opening drive with a 6 yard run to give the Bulldogs an early 7-0 lead.
