Protect yourself from scams, arm yourself with knowledge

“He knew how to push all of my buttons,” said James Brown of James Brown’s Gumbo House and Grill on Main Street in Vidor. “He knew to threaten me with my electricity being cutoff at noon because noon is my busiest time of day. He knew that I had three meters with red tags on them. He knew a lot about me, about my business and about Entergy. He was very smooth and very persistent.” Mr . B r own wa s recounting an attempt by a telephone scammer to bilk him out of $3,000 last month. Fortunately James Brown saw through the scam before his employees fell for the ruse.
