Latest sales tax allocation show slight uptick for county

Shoppers apparently were watching their expenses during the Christmas season judging from the latest sales tax allocation figures provided by Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar. Municipalities in Orange County averaged just a 1.34 percent increase over last February’s figures. Typically, the February sales tax allocation is the largest of the year for municipalities as the sales tax figures represent December sales reported by monthly tax filers as well as October, November and December sales by businesses that report tax quarterly.
