Pine Forest tries for new water/sewer grant

‘That’s the goal,” said Pine Forest Mayor Joey Peno, “to get a little bit more and a little bit more each time.” The Mayor was referring to the hope that the City of Pine Forest will be selected to receive a Texas Community Development Block Grant for up to $288,750 to extend water and sewer service to eleven more low to moderate income homes in the city. “It’s just a little bit more for the citizens to increase the quality of life for them,” said Peno. In January, the grant administration firm of Traylor and Associates notified the City of Pine Forest that they could be eligible to apply for grant funding to extend the existing water and sewer lines if they could find homeowners in the low to moderate income category that qualified for the grant and would agree to allow the tie-ins at no cost to the homeowner.
