The Livingston Lions’ home field advantage was too much to overcome for the Vidor Pirates as they dropped their second district game of the season. The Lions took the opening kickoff and drove to the Pirate 29 before the Pirates defense stiffened and forced a punt on 4th and 12.

A lethargic start for the Vidor Pirates led to a district opening defeat at the hands of the fired up Splendora Wildcats by a score of 21-14 Thursday. The Pirates spotted the Wildcats 21 first half points before shaking off their stupor to score just before halftime to narrow the lead to 21-7.

For the Vidor Pirates, the tune-ups are over. Friday it gets real as the Pirates open district play against the Splendora Wildcats for Homecoming. Splendora is coming off a 52-0 blowout over Shepherd last Friday to up the Wildcats’ record to 2-3.
