Hunting and fishing licenses go on sale

The start of a new hunting season is right around the corner and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is reminding hunters and anglers that current year Texas hunting and fishing licenses (except the Year-from-Purchase All-Water Fishing Package) will expire at the end of August.

The 2022 Vidor Pirate varsity will see a lot of new faces in starting positions as many of last year’s first-teamers were lost to graduation. On defense, more than half the starting lineup are gone and three of the starter’s backups also graduated.

Famous for being the biggest, longest, wildest birdwatching tournament in the country, this year’s Great Texas Birding Classic raised $45,000 for projects to benefit birds and other wildlife. Celebrating its 26th year, the tournament has raised $1.
