Elmer Lee “E.L.” Ellender, 88, of Beaumont, Texas, passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, September 1st, 2024. Throughout his life, he was a pillar of his community, exemplifying dedication, leadership, and love for his family and friends. E.L. was a proud and decorated Command Sergeant Major in the U.S. Army Reserve, serving his country with honor for 34 years. His commitment to service and duty was paralleled by his professional career, where he worked as the Superintendent of Maintenance at Huntsman Chemical in Port Neches for another 34 years. E.L. is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Mary Helen Smith Ellender of Beaumont, TX; his children, Debbie Garrett of Montgomery, TX; Lisa Goddard of Atlanta, GA; and Michael Ellender of Evadale, TX. He also leaves behind his brother, Frank Ellender of Nome, TX; and two treasured grandchildren.
