Dorothy Loraine Powell, 85, of Vidor, TX, passed away peacefully at her residence on Wednesday, August 14th, 2024. A native and lifelong resident of Vidor, Dorothy dedicated her life to caring for others, not just within her own family but for many in the community. A devoted homemaker, she was known for her warmth, kindness, and the way she seemed to raise everyone’s children with a gentle hand and a loving heart. Dorothy is survived by her children, each of whom carries forward her legacy of love and strength: Grant Roosevelt Powell II of Silsbee, TX; Jame Lee Powell of Vidor, TX; Gregory Allen Powell of Vidor, TX; Gary Lynn Powell of Vidor, TX; and Laura Sue Jackson of Vidor, TX. She is also survived by her sister, Nina Prine of Vidor, TX. Dorothy was a proud grandmother to 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored.
