Robert E. Whitmire, 79 of Hemphill died Sunday, July 4th, 2021 at Harbor Hospice House in Beaumont, TX. A native of Vidor, he was a longtime resident of Toledo Bend before moving to Hemphill in 2015. Robert attended Camp Springs Missionary Baptist Church in Hemphill and was a retired Heavy Equipment Operator. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. Robert enjoyed golfing and fishing on Lake Toledo Bend. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Memorial Funeral Home. Robert is survived by his wife of 46 years Phyllis Whitmire of Hemphill, TX, children Mark Whitmire of Houston, TX, Kristi Whitmire Dodd of Beaumont, TX, Darla Whitmire Hearn of Beaumont, TX, step children Bruce Whitaker of Lufkin, TX, Lisa Whitaker Martin of Bogata, TX, Crystal Whitaker Lenz of Mauriceville, TX and Nicole Whitaker Chandler of Paris, TX, brother Steven Coyle of Houston, TX, sister Lynne Lam of Austin, TX, 22 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
