In the approved fiscal budget for 20232024, additional full-time firefighter/EMT positions have been created. This brings us to a point where the community is protected by at least 3 full-time fire protection personnel 24-hours a day, along with our volunteer force and part-time firefighters.

City elections to be cancelled, Place Two trustee race contested

With no contested races in the Vidor, Pine Forest or Rose City May 4 municipal elections, state law allows the election to be cancelled and the candidates to be declared elected. The City of Vidor has already posted its intent to cancel the election at their next regular council meeting Thursday.
Candidates, supporters and voters mingled under the shade of oak trees at the Vidor Community Center as early voting in the Republican and Democrat primary elections kicked off Tuesday. A steady stream of voters took advantage of early voting with 349 in person ballots cast in Vidor. A total of 948 ballots, both by mail (72) and in-person (877) were tallied Tuesday.
