Mealybugs are insects from the family Pseudococcidae which contain more than 2000 species. Mealybugs are soft-bodied, unarmored, scale insects commonly found in moist, warm habitats. “Hibiscus mealybug” can refer to a few different mealybug species.

AUSTIN — For the first time in almost two decades, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) has added a new Wildlife Management Area (WMA) to its East Texas inventory.The property, comprising approximately 6,900 acres in Anderson County, will become the Trinity River Wildlife Management Area.

Former Vidor HR Director indicted for theft by a public servant

Former City of Vidor HR Director Jennifer Philipps, 46, was arrested following her grand jury indictment for Theft by a Public Servant, $2,500 to $30,000. Philipps was arrested Friday on the state jail felony charge. A judge set bond at $25,000 and she has since bonded out of jail.

Early voting ended Tuesday in the May 3 Vidor municipal and Vidor ISD school trustee elections with almost 2,300 ballots cast at four Orange County early voting locations. The Vidor location was the busiest with a total of 960 ballots cast during the early voting period.

Orange County ESD #1 Fire Chief Robert L. Smith reported firefighters responded to a house fire on Dogwood Tuesday, April 22.Smith said, “at approxi mately 5:09p.m., OCESD#1 received a call for service due to a structure fire in the 1300 block of Dogwood.
The Vidor Public Library held the last Itty Bitty Storytime for 2024-2025. Library clerk Sarah Screws read “Izzy the Ice Cream Fairy “by Tim Bugbird. “Izzy and her friends run a magical ice-cream stall on the beach, until one day they discover that their ice-cream well has run dry. The friends travel to a new land in search of more delicious ice cream.” The children colored wooden ice cream cut-outs for the craft and enjoyed making ice cream for their treat.
