One hundred and thirty-six years ago this month, the Texas State Fair opened in Dallas. The iconic predecessor to our present-day State Fair of Texas drew crowds from across the state. A rival fair, the Dallas exposition, opened around the same time and together they welcomed over 35,000 people.

10 Years ago October 28, 2010: Ms. Johnnie Andrus of Vidor was nominated and selected by the Orange County Commissioners’ Court to be a member of the County’s Hotel and Motel Tax Committee on Monday. Andrus is the owner of Cindy’s Boutique in Vidor and President of the Vidor Chamber of Commerce.
